Welcome to our Planet Conscious Amenities Pack

Each product has been carefully and thoughtfully vetted for its planet conscious credentials so you are aware of the supply chain journey and have complete transparency on how sustainable it is. We are working in partnership with our clients and suppliers to create the worlds first Planet Conscious Amenities Pack, constantly innovating and refining our solutions towards becoming beyond sustainable. • We educate and support both our clients and suppliers on the journey towards becoming responsible businesses at the same time as contributing towards projects that deliver on your ESG goals and sustainability objectives, supporting your Pathway to Net Positive.

We work with your teams to ensure that we understand your requirements and needs so we can support you to make the decisions that are applicable to your sustainability goals and ultimately your brand identity. By being aware of what you are purchasing in an amenity kit and the resulting action of your purchase on the end of life of the product, you are demonstrating your commitment to planet conscious business practices whilst creating unforgettable guest experiences.

This pilot scheme has been created to ensure that we can meet your needs by receiving feedback on all aspects of the process. By having a two-way dialogue, we can ensure that we are all focused on triple bottom line reporting. The traditional method of procuring consumables has resulted in very little transparency and a closed process that does not allow for education and sharing of knowledge.

Sustainability does not mean cheap, creating a product for the bottom line only will not help us on the Pathway to Net Positive. For the pilot scheme, sustainability, price point, energy and water saving and plastic reduction have been our main objectives. By purchasing through the Alliance, ordering, invoicing and logistics are taken care of by Beyond Bamboo and you will earn ESG credits with every purchase you make which are invested into fully vetted local and global environmental and social projects.

As we strive in our journey to go beyond sustainability, we look forward to continually sharing our mission with you. As part of our commitment to the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance we are in discussions with manufacturers who are at the development stages to introduce groundbreaking products that will help redefine the hospitality industry. By engaging and ‘collectively’ creating with us the most sustainable amenity kit we can ensure that the Alliance and all the members are leaders in the industry and a blueprint for other industries to follow and strive to make change. By investing in the best next level sustainable products, we will always continue to aim to Go Beyond.

  • We have partnered with a manufacturer that we believe is currently the most sustainable 'single supplier' who can provide all the products for a full amenity kit to meet your requirements whether you require basic, mid-range or luxury level for your guests.

Packed in FSC Kraft paper sachets, FSC white paper sachets, FSC Kraft cardboard boxes or FSC white cardboard boxes you can select your packaging and products according to your price point and branding requirements.

The owner is passionate about making a change and has already made a considerable financial investment in their operations and continues to evolve and expand their progressive management skills to meet their own and their client’s objectives.

They use compostable, bio-degradable, low carbon, re-usable and plant-based materials wherever possible; and have strategy goals in place to reduce emissions.

In alignment with the members who have joined the Alliance pilot scheme and have aims which focus on reducing waste, water management, reducing energy consumption and emissions; this manufacturer has the same goals.

Following guidelines on People and Planet, their ESG reports have been validated by a third-party validator and corroborated by our 'Deep Trace' Organisation.

They hold certification in ISO 9001 (quality management,) ISO 22716 (GMP), Cosmos, Ecocert, OK Compost, GRS and FSC.

They aim to achieve over a 50% reduction in the lifecycle environmental impact of newly developed or updated products by 2030; reach minimum peak carbon emissions by 2030; reduce the carbon emissions per unit product from their factories by 30% and achieve zero landfill waste. They operate a wastewater treatment facility along with production exhaust management systems and meet the criteria for triple bottom line reporting.

We are confident this company will make a strategic partner for Beyond Bamboo specifically to meet the requirements of the first Alliance pilot scheme.

  • The individual products making up a full amenity kit are not yet 100% sustainable, right now there is nothing to fulfill that criteria. This kit is as sustainable as possible until new innovations are at the next key stage level of manufacturing.

Some items within an amenity kit will have content that can only be destined for landfill despite claims that tell us otherwise; this is mostly due to items being composites, or ‘mixed materials’ whereby one element cannot be composted or recycled, and the integrity of the whole item is then compromised. Those recycling units that may have separation facilities are costly specialised industrial units, of which there are very few across the globe.

The products we offer are based on the best in class available at this time, with transparency at the forefront of the Beyond Bamboo and the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance collaboration.

To ensure the Alliance members are fully informed of the choices available, we have collated the following guides on what to be aware of when you purchase and why we have chosen to offer you these options.

EVERY LITTLE CHANGE MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

We are constantly innovating and inspiring our suppliers to push the boundaries of possibility in terms of how sustainable each product is.

    1. The bristle of a toothbrush be it bamboo or beech wood or any other material will invariably have a nylon or plastic bristle head, this section is not compostable and will only be disposed of under industry standard bio-degradable units, but if any element of the handle remains with the bristle, then the entire item will go to landfill. We suggest the head is separated from the handle before disposal.

    2. Wheat straw is only bio-degradable under specialised industry units. However, we have elected to include wheat straw as an on-price point option whilst our clients transition their amenity pack offerings.  Wheat straw at raw material stage offers a much higher stalk yield resulting in a substantial reduction in water usage, it does not require the same extreme energy usage within its production cycle as other ‘bio plastics’. Wheat Straw is also ‘2G’, a 2nd generation of crops and plants not suitable for human or animal consumption. Cornstarch is of the 1st generation, those that can be used for animal (feed) or human consumption (food), wherever possible we believe a disposable product should not be manufactured from a potential food source.

    3. Toothpaste and shaving cream are no longer in plastic tubes, but in paper sachets.  It is necessary for the integrity of the content to not seep through an unlined packet and therefore the sachets are film lined. The external paper packaging will naturally degrade over time. Until such an alternative exists this product uses the least amount of plastic for a paste or cream.

    4. The mid-range razor comes with a two blade ABS head and a flat bamboo handle. By separating the two elements, the handle is fully compostable, and the head can be recycled. The chrome plated and bamboo razor will also need to be separated from the head for disposal.

    5. We have replaced the plastic clip cover for all the razors with a disposable cardboard shield, eliminating the plastic clip requirement altogether.

    6. This sewing kit is one of the most sustainable, we have removed the use of plastic buttons destined for landfill and replaced them with coconut buttons which are home compostable.  The kit includes black cotton and white cotton thread and a needle, reducing the amount of waste created by this amenity. The sewing kit is placed in an inner paper sachet to keep the contents secure.

    7. Our Vanity Kit cotton pads and cotton swabs are packed into a paper sleeve and kept separate from the nail file to avoid damage.

    8. The shower caps are not brilliant white, but cream in colour, with no toxic bleach used in the manufacturing process, the Sugarcane PLA can be composted under industrial controlled temperatures and conditions. It is classed as renewable as it is a 2nd generation material from waste fibers not destined for food or feed.

    9. The Hygiene bag is Sugarcane PLA. Due to the contents of the bag it will likely be incinerated, under these conditions sugarcane does not emit any toxic fumes. A paper bag will also be incinerated but we cannot offer paper in this instance due to the potential of content leakage.

    10. The plastic tag on the shoehorn has been removed completely.

  • Our FSC kraft cardboard and FSC white cardboard box has been manufactured with a tamper free perforation tab, eliminating the need for a plastic sticker. During recycling, paper products go through a pulping process where contaminants like plastic need to be removed, these small stickers can compromise the whole process.

The production of stone paper packaging uses no acid, bleach or optical brighteners, but it can only be recycled into new stone paper if recycled separately at dedicated civic amenity sites or other specialist recycling/waste processing points. What is not widely known is stone paper needs to be disposed of with plastics and not paper. We advise not to use stone paper as it contaminates paper and cardboard recycling when discarded in a waste bin. Beyond Bamboo have selected to continue to use FSC paper and cardboard which has a standardised waste recycling program worldwide.

    Price note on packaging:

Dental Kit and Shaving Kit pricing reflects the same cost to pack two items in one package as it does for a single item. The prices for individual items reflect ordering extra for consecutive room occupancy.
