Environmental Policy

Our Commitment

We are committed to operating in an environmentally responsible manner by minimising our impact, supporting sustainable practices, and integrating environmental considerations into all aspects of our operations and supply chain. As a remote-first organisation, we focus on the areas where we have the most influence, including energy use, resource consumption, business travel, and supplier engagement.

This commitment is reflected in how we operate across our business:

  • Embedding a planet-conscious approach into all procurement, sourcing, and supply chain decisions, ensuring environmental impact is considered throughout selection and product delivery.

  • Working with suppliers who demonstrate credible environmental responsibility, ethical manufacturing practices, and a willingness to improve through transparent ESG standards and continuous development wherever possible.

  • Actively supporting the transition towards regenerative and lower-impact supply chains, who are focusing not only on reducing harm but also contributing to restoration and positive environmental outcomes.

  • Designing and enabling circular solutions where possible, encouraging reuse, recyclability, and responsible end-of-life management of products within hospitality and operational supply chains.

  • Measuring, monitoring, and improving environmental performance across our operations, including carbon emissions linked to remote working, procurement activity, and business travel, to support data-led decision making.

  • Reducing operational impact by promoting efficient digital processes, minimising unnecessary resource use, and encouraging lower-impact working practices across our remote workforce.

  • Supporting clients and partners to make more sustainable choices by providing education, ESG insight, and access to verified planet-conscious product alternatives.

  • Reinforcing accountability across our supply chain by vetting partners, encouraging transparency, and aligning with recognised sustainability frameworks and industry best practice.

  • Continuously improving our environmental approach through innovation, collaboration, and alignment with global sustainability goals, ensuring our practices evolve as better solutions become available

Energy & Water Usage

We are a remote-first organisation, and environmental impact from energy and water use is primarily associated with employees working from home. There is no centralised office energy or water consumption.

Energy use is linked to homeworking activities, including the use of laptops, monitors, lighting, heating, and other equipment. Employees are encouraged to use energy-efficient devices where possible, switch off equipment when not in use, and adopt responsible usage practices to minimise unnecessary consumption.

Where available, employees are encouraged to consider green or renewable energy options within their home environments. Homeworking energy use is estimated using industry-standard benchmarks based on the countries in which employees are located.

Water use is not directly measured within operational reporting; however, employees are encouraged to be mindful of their water consumption within their home environments and adopt responsible usage habits.

Overall environmental impact from energy and water use is considered within our voluntary environmental reporting approach, supporting transparency and ongoing improvement where possible.

Waste & Recycling

Waste generation is minimal due to the remote-first structure of Beyond Bamboo Global, with no centralised office operations producing waste streams.

Within homeworking environments, employees are encouraged to reduce waste through the use of digital processes wherever possible and to avoid unnecessary printing or paper use.

Where waste is produced, it should be managed responsibly in line with local waste and recycling systems. This includes the correct separation and disposal of recyclable materials such as paper, plastics, and packaging in accordance with local guidance.

Electronic waste and related materials, including laptops, accessories, batteries, printer cartridges, and other IT equipment used for business purposes, must be disposed of responsibly. This should be done through appropriate recycling channels, such as certified e-waste schemes or manufacturer take-back programmes where available.

Hazardous materials associated with homeworking, including items such as batteries and cleaning products where applicable, must also be disposed of in line with local regulations and the guidance set out in the E-Waste and Hazardous Materials Policy.

Business Travel & Carbon Footprint

Our carbon footprint is based on the most material and measurable aspects of our operations: homeworker energy use and business travel.

Homeworker emissions are calculated using industry-standard benchmarks aligned to the average energy profiles of the countries in which our team operates. Business travel emissions are calculated using recognised methodologies for air and land travel, as well as accommodation.

Employees and directors are encouraged to support emissions reduction by making lower-impact choices where possible, including prioritising virtual meetings, avoiding unnecessary travel, and selecting lower-emission transport options where travel is required.

We aim to reduce emissions further by continuing to optimise travel requirements and promote more sustainable working practices across the organisation.

Sustainable Sourcing

We ‘Mini Vet’ all our suppliers based on their public facing information. Website, Linked In, Facebook, Instagram etc. We ensure they do not appear to greenwash, are clear and transparent in their desire to work towards going beyond sustainable. We look at who they partner with and their certifications, allocating them an internal classification according to our 4 Pillars.

  • People - Ethical practices

  • Planet – Environmental practices

  • Projects – Impact/Social practices

  • Progression – innovative practices (going beyond, creating new)

We expect compliance in at least one of the Four Pillars before making any working relationship, when we then apply a Full Vet to the supplier and the products: includes selective properties on content of materials & packaging plus an agreement to comply with our due diligence practices and confirmation of their sustainable practices relating to LCA’s, tracking and UN global goal alignments These are dynamic documents : Beyond Bamboo Essential Criteria Form and a Declaration Link

Continuous Improvement

Carbon footprint reporting is regularly refined as better data becomes available, with ongoing improvements to the accuracy and completeness of estimates relating to homeworking energy use and business travel.

As the business grows, additional relevant environmental data points are identified and incorporated where they are material, measurable, and appropriate to the way the organisation operates. This ensures reporting continues to reflect real operational impact rather than static assumptions.

Review & Accountability

This policy is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practice approaches.

All employees, contractors, and partners are expected to act in accordance with this policy and support its implementation through their day-to-day activities, contributing to shared environmental responsibility across the organisation.
