Going Beyond Sustainability on Necker Island with Virgin Unite & Sir Richard Branson - inspiring update from our CEO Tiffany Kelly.
I was absolutely honoured to be included in what was an incredibly inspiring and powerful CHANGE event on Necker Island with Jimmy Ku, Sir Richard Branson, Georgia Gwynne Gruber, Lynn Liss and a group of international leaders facilitated by Virgin Unite last week with my Beyond Bamboo Global focus on going beyond #Sustainability and creating responsible Leadership.
Chatham House rules apply so I can't say too much expect to share the below from Jimmy:
'CHANGE the conversation - During the 5 days/4 nights, we created actionable steps towards addressing:
(1) Affordable housing (addressing the Ukraine war and beyond)
(2) Reducing Carbon emissions to address Climate change
(3) Job displacement impacted by AI (Creation of new economies)
(4) Consumer credit, financial wellness
(5) Fiat currency instability, lack of a store of wealth
(6) Global Food Security affected by climate change
CHANGE the future
I'm excited for what this gathering will create. Each of those mini groups have now turned into full blown discussion threads with war rooms of CHANGE leaders. I'm excited for what we can accomplish together with CHANGE 2.0 in 2026.
We are already creating positive impact:
- 1st ever carbon neutral gathering on Necker Island
- $300K+ donated to Virgin Unite
- $25K donated to Children in Distress Network (CINDI) (https://cindi.org.za/), a nonprofit that creates programs supporting youth with HIV/AIDs in S Africa. And an org that was affected by the defunding of USAID. Thank you MainChain team and Brett King!
- $10K donation to AI4GOOD (https://ai4good.org/) and especially their initiatives around Economists for Ukraine which were defunded as part of USAID.
- $10K donation to Abundant Village (https://lnkd.in/gnA8M8mf) which creates project groups and rolls up their sleeves to participate in projects with the community that delivers on tangible benefits right away.'
